Currently, in Pakistan, campaigns have begun for the upcoming May election. However, for those candidates that represent secular parties, a few snags have been hit. The Pakistani Taliban have have already killed a member of the Muttahida Quami Movement and attacked a member of the Awami National Party. Some believe that these threats will allow for religious and conservative groups to stage campaign events, however it is also seen as preventing a fair election. This election is historic for Pakistan as it marks the first time a civilian government served a full term and another one is democratically elected.
