Speaking of social norms and ideas, here's Uruguay a signature away from legalizing same-sex marriage: http://www.cnn.com/2013/04/10/world/americas/uruguay-same-sex-marriage/index.html?hpt=wo_c2
The bill has passed through the lower house and moved through their Senate with a large majority, and is awaiting the President's signature to signed into law. Luckily, the President has already openly endorsed the bill. This will make Uruguay the 12th country in the world to legalize same-sex marriage. Typical "redefining," or "attacking traditional, and beleaguered institution of marriage" arguments from the Catholic Church and the right. Left-wings, interestingly enough, believe the move will help modernize their nation. Seems relevant to the constructivism readings...
