Uruguay approaches the legalization of same sex marriage. It passed with a vote of 23 to 8, now all they need is the president's signature and he appears to be in favor of the bill. If the law passes, Uruguay will be the 12th country to legalize gay marriage, and the 2nd in South America (Argentina being the first. Uruguay was the leading country in South America when it came to gay rights. They were the first country to legalize adoption to same sex couples and to allow civil unions. All they need is one signature to complete the legalization of same sex marriage and make sure that same sex couples have all of the rights as heterosexual couples.
