The Boldest Move by Somali Pirates to date ended with the Death of at least five of them. This two month 'ordeal' came to an end when a $3 million dollar ransom was agreed upon. The ransom was then parachuted near the supertanker. Unfortunately, the story doesn't have a happy ending for most of the little band of pirates. Due to their own 'squabbling' and bad weather, their boat blew over and sank. The money hasn't been found.
This ordeal signaled a greater call to the outside world that their are still pirates out on the seas especially near unstable countries. This incident sparked both the United States and China to come up with better means of protecting their own to protect their ships. Hopefully the rest of the world will take note of this story as well.
Both crewman were treated humanely and the ship is on its way to Mombasa, hopefully without anymore problems.
This incident showed just how clever thieves can be and how far they might go. Ironically, it wasn't any military intervention that brought about their end, but rather their own individual greed. Their may just be a lesson for everyone in this story.
