Men Dressed as Police Free Mexican Inmates

By: Micah Bacheller

This article is about a group of about 50 inmates that were freed from a Mexican maximum security prison facility. The group that freed the inmates were all dressed as police officers, even their caravan of 15 vehicles and a helicopter were painted to look like police vehicles. The group said that they had special orders to relocate the fifty some prisoners to another place.

This shows the weakness of the Mexican prison system, but it says more than that. As talk goes on about what should be done with the prisoners at Guantanamo, there is fear that bringing these prisoners to mainland US could be a bad thing, rightfully so. Of course the US is not Mexico, and there has never been an escape from a maximum security prison in the US, but it is hard to think that the radical factions from which the top prisoners pertain would not try to get them out. Is it a good idea to bring these prisoners to mainland US, and if so, what to do with them? This is the question wanting to be answered, and it will soon enough...
