Mexico's Dampered Bicentennial

This CNN news article discusses Mexico's plans to celebrate the countries 200 year anniversary today (Wednesday 9/15/2010). It is very interesting as the article features citizens discussing the planned celebration and not really buying in to it. Citizens are unhappy with their government due to Mexico's ailing economy and with all of the violence and drug trade problems, they see Mexico's giant celebration for the bicentennial as trying to cover up all of these issues. This article does a good job showing that Mexican citizens are starting to get feed up with the countries problems and it appears as though they will likely depend solutions in the very near future. A celebration will be held tonight and many citizens will join in the celebration, but as the article discusses, the key is how long their patriotism will last and according to the article this patriotism will give way to frustration and anger over the next few days.
