US Navy rescues Iranians

Iranian sailors were taken hostage on their fishing vessel, only to be rescued by an American destroyer. The USS John Stennis Strike Group was moving through the Strait of Hormuz when they came upon the distressed ship. They assumed that the ship was hijacked as they claim that they saw a pirate ship, believed to be Somalian, next to the Iranian boat. The crew of the Al Molai had been held for 40 to 45 days before the USS Kidd happened upon it. The rescue attempt came a few days after Iran stated that the U.S. should no longer have ships positioned in the Strait of Hormuz.
