11 activists, including local Amnesty International chiefs, on trial in Turkey

11 activist including two local Amnesty international chiefs and two foreigners are on trial for the accusation of helping out three "armed terrorist organizations."  This is seen as a part of an ongoing purge following a failed military coup last year with thousands of individuals being arrested including a few dozen foreigners. Amnesty calls the arrests of the members of their organization as "entirely baseless" and "politically motivated."  Amnesty believes that the judge should throw the case out as the prosecution took three months to produce a charge against those imprisoned.  This has produced a concern in the West over degradation of civil liberties.
