Report: North Korea claims it is enriching uranium at new plant

A U.S. Department team arrived in North Korea of report from a U.S. scientist group that reported North Korea of having a high Uranium facility. The facility is believed to have 2,000 centrifuges and believed to be a factor for nuclear power, however, North Korea said its not for Military power. Although, Stanford scientist Siegfried Hecker states that the high uranium levels could easily be converted to make a HEU bomb fuel. Not to mention, the adding of this facility violates the UN Security Council resolutions on North Korean's nuclear power program. A resolution to this problem was not given in the sense that North Korea is stating it's not a threat to the world, however, the world feels threatened and will go about this problem with extreme caution.

Radical cleric arrested in Lebanon after shootout, government says

Bakri Mohammed, a radical Islamic who is facing a life sentence for aiding an al Qaeda affiliate. The arrest was made after a shootout occurred in the northern city of Tripoli. Bakri was arrested under charges of being in a group that committed crimes against the state such as; membership of an armed group, and having weapons and explosives. Bakri also stated that he never aided al Qaeda even though evidence is anonymous. He was also believed to be involved in the bombing in London just a few years back and he is considered a dangerous threat to the world.

3 boys believed abducted by fathers found in the Netherlands

Three children were abducted in southern California by their own fathers. Both fathers were brothers and they abducted their children, Greg, Alexander, and Zaven. Although, the reason for kidnapping wasn't evident the mothers of the three children were devastated and placed a state arrest warrant on the two men. This is where experts believe the two men fled the country with their sons to either Greece or the Netherlands. The FBI soon followed up on the case and contacted the two counties. The men where put on high alert and soon caught by the Netherlands police. The children are being held in Dutch protective services and the two mothers along with the FBI are traveling to Greece to follow up on the charges of the two men. This article is a perfect example of globalization and how the traveling between two countries is not only easier but used as a getaway to criminals.

32 injured in apparent suicide bombing in Turkey

On Sunday an apparent suicide bombing took place in Taksim Square in Turkey, injuring 32 people and putting 5 in serious condition. Taksim Square is a major transportation center for the city and is mostly patrolled by police officers. So unfortunately, 15 of the 17 civilians were police officers. The reason for the attack was not apparent but as an act against society. The attack happened when a middle aged male tried stealing a police bus and in the process he detonated a bomb. Luckily, the second bomb that was found on his body didn't detonate which limited the tragedy. Also, the attack took place during National Day, which is a parade of independence for the Turkish Republic. All in all, there wasn't much more said about the attack and the Turkish society is somewhat in disbelief from this crisis.

More foreign troop deaths in Afghanistan

Fourteen NATO troop's were killed this past week in Afghanistan. This just goes to show that stability in the middle east is still not quite there. The cause of death was an explosive device and a insurgent attack. This is the first time so many international troops have been killed since August 30th. However, this is the deadliest year of the war for coalition service members as that number stands at 587 pronounced dead. Not to mention, this number includes many American service members and at a time when the war is a subject of fierce debate. Meanwhile, Afghan and ISAF forces have killed many of the insurgents and detained many as well. The war will continue to go on as the campaign to stabilize Iraq and Afghanistan will continue.

Russian passenger jet lands after bomb threat, state media reports

After a Russian commercial airline departed from Vnukovo International airport near Moscow, it was soon told to make an emrgency landing after air transport agency suspected there was an explosive device on board. The call was made Sunday around 4:15 p.m. and spokesman Serge Izvolsky told reporters that everything is being done to find the victim. They were inspecting the aircraft and interviewing passengers but no other information was given. All security procedures were followed and better safe than sorry.

World's largest offshore wind farm opens in UK

The largest wind farm in the world opened Thursday in Southern England. It is estimated to fuel electricity to 200,000 homes per year. This is important to this region because it can add 50 percent more energy to British homes and save on money. This location is perfect because the British waters provide powerful winds to generate the turbines. The European Offshore Wind Industry is also under construction on 16 more wind farms along the British shores. The owners goals are to create a wind farm that will become the worlds first 1 gigawatt and power over 3 million British homes.

Boy earns 1 cent a goat in slaughter trade

Eight year old Boku and his brother Muhammed have been experiencing child labor in Kenya. Although, it is illegal Boku describes that there are many kids having to sweep and clean up after a goat slaughterhouse while being paid less than one cent US equivalency. He also added that most of the time once work is over that the boss or older workers just rob him of his earnings. Charges have not been made because Kenya police do not target businesses that benefit the community.
