Kerry Blames Syrian Government for Deadlocked Talks

Secretary of State John Kerry on Saturday issued a statement that blamed the Syrian government for blocking peace talks in the region, Kerry continues to insist that the U.S in committed to the Geneva process. This statement was in response to the virtually fruitless talks in which the Syrian government continued its attacks on rebel held areas while nearly 200,000 Syrians remain without humanitarian assistance. Lakhdar Brahimi, the United Nations special envoy to the negotiations made a special apology to the Syrian people and questions remain whether or not negations are still a viable option. Mr. Kerry's statement seems to be a desperate attempt to pressure President Bashar al-Assad to reach a political settlement in Syria. Mr. Kerry’s statement said, the opposition “put forward a viable and well-reasoned road map for the creation of a transitional governing body and a viable path by which to move the negotiations forward”,  in response to Russia and Iran's policy attempts in Syria. It has been analyzed that these talks were an uphill battle at best. The issue of Syria is not one that can be easily solved or even analyzed, with so many opposing voices pressuring Syria it is unclear what will happen in this region.
