Many Try to Run for President in Iran, but Few Will Be Allowed

By Mike Woodard

Iran's presidential election is coming up and they currently have 475 registered voters. Of these 475 voters, 40 of them are women. The number of 475 will be cut down by "an oversight panel of conservative mullahs and jurists" (Faithi). This small amount of 475 is less than half of the 1,014 voters that were registered for the last Iran election. The council that qualifies voters looks at the voter's religious and political standings when deciding if that person is capable of voting. All the candidates have a strong history that gives a few bad facts to people.
