US to review Afghanistan air strikes

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/8042642.stm

Gen Petreus has ordered a review of US airstrikes in Afghanistan. He said that "tactical actions should not undermine strategic goals." The significance of this is that it is the first time that the airstrikes have been reviewed by the US. It is a very different course then what has been previous taken, and is the result of the most recent bombing that may have killed 100 civilians. Gen Petreus has sent a general who has "extensive background in conventional and special operations" in order to investigate the situation "more broadly."
