From Hiroshima to a Nuke-Free World

US Secretary of State John Kerry recently visited the Hiroshima war memorial in Japan. He now is the highest ranking US official to have visited the memorial. It was simply a somber visit to pay his respects to the victims of the nuclear bomb attack in World War II. His visit opened the door for President Obama to visit the memorial in his upcoming visit to Japan. It is looking very probable that he will attend, given his history of initiative to create a world free of nuclear bombs. His early administration made great leaps to tackle this issue, but recently it has been less of a focus. Visiting the war memorial could be a great way for Obama to push once more on this huge piece of his international policy ideals.
