Sanders and Israel, an "Unorthodox" Approach

Sanders takes an "unorthodox" stance on U.S. relations with Israel. In the Democratic debate Thursday night, Sanders stated that Israel has used excessive force in response to attack from Hamas. The Democratic party has a long standing history of being pro-Israel, a stance Clinton maintains. The more neutralized stance of Sanders regarding the relations comes just days before the primary vote takes place in New York, where there is a large population of Jewish voters.

"Sanders' nationally televised stance could represent a watershed moment in Democratic politics, as the sole Jewish candidate in the race -- and only one to have lived in Israel -- smashed a taboo that could lead others to follow suit."
