Many of France’s workers have gone on strike. This strike is due to a possible increase of the retirement age to 62 years old. In fear that they will not be able to retire until 62 years old, many workers are protesting by going on strike. This strike is now in its 3rd day. The economy is beginning to feel the impact of the strike. One industry that is suffering from this strike is the oil industry. The French Union of Petroleum Industries said that 7 of the 12 French refineries have shut down as workers have ceased work there. As many as 1.2 million people walked off their jobs. The French fuel supply is decreasing rapidly due to this protest.
