Experts: Pirates abducted English tourist, hold her in Somalia

In a remote hotel in Kenya an English tourist was kidnapped by Somalian pirates, a headline all too familiar. The woman, Judith Tebutt, has been moved several times since the kidnapping and is believed to be in a remote corner of Somalia. Her husband David was killed in the kidnapping when he refused to follow the orders of the pirates. Somalian pirates have been kidnapping tourists and holding them for ransom to generate income. For some time these pirates have been taking over cargo ships that run through shipping lanes between Europe and Asia. These cargo ships have insurance and the pirates often clear millions of U.S. dollars in ransom. Experts believe that it is becoming harder to capture people at sea, which is why they think the pirates have been carrying out more kidnappings on land. So far two people have been charged in the crime, including one Kenyan man who worked at the resort where the kidnapping took place.
