Libyan Rebels backed by UN Security Council

Important new developments out of Libya this morning, according to CNN, the UN security council has adopted a resolution to "establish a support mission in Libya". This new resolution was passed just after the UN General Assembly approved a "National Transition Council" to represent the war torn nation in the next session of the UN. The goal of this resolution is to restore public security, help establish a constitution (and set up free elections), promote human rights, and thaw "frozen" assets. Secretary General Ki-moon is required in the new resolution to report the progress in Libya every month. The resolution passed with 114 votes in favor, 17 against, and 15 abstentions. Some nations that voted against the resolution include; Venezuela, Cuba, Angola and Gabon. This is a major development because the UN Security Council is the first international body to officially aid the Libyan "rebels". The world will certainly be watching to see how this new resolution plays out. Is this the beginning of a stable Libya?
