Jailed Iranian lawyer on hunger strike

Nasrin Sotoudeh, a human rights lawyer in Iran, has begun a hunger strike after being jailed in a Tehran prison. She had been arrested two months ago after being accused of acting against national security. Sotoudeh often represented Iranian opposition activists and politicians. She has been denied to right to meet with her lawyer and has been placed in solitary confinement. The International Campaign for Human Rights has since called upon the United Nations to aid in this case. Sotoudeh is said to be in critical condition having refused food since Sunday.
