Protests Slow Nuclear Waste Shipment in Germany

Activists are protesting a nuclear waste shipment, caused by Chancellor Angela Merkel and his continual support of nuclear energy. Gorleben is the final destination of 123 tons of waste. Merkel states that the move keeps resources cheap and available. Protesters chained themselves to the train tracks; police stopped 4,000 people from approaching the tracks. Parliment has approved the plan to extend the life of the nuclear plants. 25,000 people protested, the biggest protest against the unpopular waste ever. The storage site, a warehouse, is not considered safe.
