Puerto Rico is still in a troubling state from being hit by hurricane Maria last September. The cost has totaled 3.8 billion dollars to reconstruct and repair almost all of the country. This will add onto their existing debt of nearly 9 billion. The job still isn’t finished and that leaves vulnerability to yet another hurricane. As the weather gets warmer the chances of being hit by a category 2,3, or 4 hurricane will destroy whatever is left of Puerto Rico. This is the longest blackout in American history considering they are a territory of the U.S. Adding onto the poverty and homelessness, creating a greater incentive to flee and come to the Americas. Yet not much has been done, Puerto Rico is merely hoping for the best right now.
