Air Mail Suspended in Greece Following the Finding of Parcel Bombs

Air Mail has been suspended in Greece for 48 hours while an invesitgation and security checks are conducted pertaining to a number of parcel bombs discovered on Monday and Tuesday. The bombs were addressed to foreign embassies in the capital of Athens. The Belgian, Bulgarian, Dutch, and Chilean embassies were able to intercept the packages before they went off however, the Swiss, Mexican, and Russian embassies were not so fortunate as the parcel bombs exploded before they were identified. Bombs were also addressed to Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi and Germany's chancellor Angela Merkel, but both were stopped before they reached their destinations. Credit for these attacks is being given to an extreme left-wing group known as Conspiracy of the Cells of Fire. This group is believed to be attempting to spaark a revolution during Greece's recent economic austerity. Local elections are scheduled to be held this weekend, which could be another cause for this sudden increase in violence. Amazingly the only injury to be reported amidst the explosions is one courier office employee at the Mexican embassy. No deaths have been reported. These events are testing the anti-terrorism efforts in Europe and and have hightened security all across Greece. How successful Greece and Europe as a whole can be in fending off these attacks in the future is an issue that needs to be addressed relatively soon.
