Wikileaks founder, Julian Assange’s announcement that his site will publish secrets of repressive regimes such as Russia and China has sparked outrage in Russia. A member of the Russia’s secret police warned that, “[WikiLeaks] can be made inaccessible forever,"
Although the comment was not elaborated any further, Russia has a known history of “dealing” with people who expose their state’s secrets. For instance, in 2006, former Russian agent, Alexander Litvinenko, who had published damning books about Russia's leadership, was fatally poisoned with a rare and highly radioactive polonium isotope while living in London.
It is unclear whether these threats will prevent WikiLeaks from releasing the alleged documents.
