Where's the good life?

While the US is ranked among the top five best places to live, Norway is ranked first! While Jeffrey Sachs talks about eliminating poverty, maybe it would also be in our interest to look at places such as Norway, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and Ireland in determining what makes them among the top five, while places like Zimbabwe are among the worst. Obviously, diseases such as AIDS play a major role in the lack of quality of life in places such as Congo and Zambia. However, these countries that are rising to the top have taken different approaches. Some have focused on health care and education, while others focused on rapid economic development. Maybe if we could pin down some key factors as to what makes these places so desirable, as well as finding funds to solve problems such as AIDS, maybe we could end poverty like Sachs idealizes about.
