Obama vow on Guantanamo inmates

By: Dan Dierdorff
According to the BBC President Obama has laid out a plan to help deal with Guantanamo and its inmates. It is apparent that Obama recently had to rethink his plan for closing the prison after pressure from both sides. It is good to see that even he admits that some inmates are unreleaseable. It is surprising to see that this change came so quickly after opposition to his original plan was voiced. I'm not surprised to see that Dick Cheney is still standing by his views of enhanced interrogation but I feel that this "fight" between the two is silly and not surprising at all. America needs to realize that Guantanamo is a prison for those of which we don't know what to do with. Now even the president realizes that there are people in there that shouldn't be freed. This is a big deal because it is a big message to the opposition. America won't back down to terrorism but that it should be fair. I do agree with Cheney when he says that the CIA leaks do hurt us because although it is just a document the terrorists or "enemy combatants" can get a hold of it.
