Obama and Cheney disagree on national security

By Nial Maloney

Earlier today, President Obama and former vice-president Cheney gave competing views on how to keep America safe. Obama is trying to clean up the mess left behind by the Bush administration but Cheney believes that Obama has weakened the plan that Bush's administration had set forward. Over the past few months, Cheney has been an advocate against many of Obama's administration ideas.

Many Republicans agree with Cheneys plans and don't like Obama's ideas when it comes to closing Gitmo. Right now, the Senate wants Obama to set forth a plan as to what to do with the detainees in the prison and do not want them sent to prisons in the U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is on Obama's side and praised his efforts. Former President Bush had no comment on the dueling speeches.
