Richard C. Holbrooke, the Obama administration’s special representative to Afghanistan and Pakistan, said that, "Iran had serious concerns about drug trafficking and immigration from Afghanistan and stressed that the representative was there only to discuss that country." Incredibly for the first time Iran has sent political delegates to discuss developments in Afghanistan and Pakistan, two countries that Iran (one could argue the U.S. as well) has ties in. Also he went on to state that they would not discuss the nuclear program developing or not developing in the area. This brings about the thought that maybe Iran is becoming defensive about discussions on the topic, which may be a cause for concern.
