Hurricane Tomas leaves destruction in St. Lucia, bears down on Jamaica

St. Lucia is feeling the effects of hurricane Tomas, which hit over the weekend. While classified as just a Category 1 storm when it made landfall, Tomas did a lot of damage because it moved very slowly across the island. The death toll has officially reached 12, and several homes and schools have taken their fair share of damage. Aid from the US and France has already begun to pour in. After passing over St. Vincent, Tomas is now headed towards Jamaica and the Dominican Republic, and could make landfall Friday. More here.
