Afghans Face Famine

While Afghans have experienced hunger before, it is different this winter. Since the Taliban have taken control jobs have disappeared, there have been multiple economic collapses, and food prices have rapidly increased. Millions of Afghans are now in a critical situation and some have no food at all.

Because of this, the U.N. launched its biggest appeal for a single county- $4.4 billion dollars. Many Afghans report that while they were doing fine last year, this winter is the first time they have to stand in food lines. Normal families who are middle class now have to beg in the street for spare change.
