Mazlan Othman will not be representing Earth

Rumors were recently circulating that Mazlan Othman has been appointed to represent our planet in any future dealings with aliens or other outer space beings. Othman, the head of the UN Office for Outer Space Affairs, denies these rumors. Although the allegations are not true, she does think the position would be an interesting one. Also being an astrophysicist, she raises the point that such a position could be of importance in the coming years. A question of who should represent our planet in any extraterrestrial negotiations has yet to be raised, and she asserts than some type of protocol should exist. It is more likely that these protocols will be decided upon after such an event takes place, as the UN is unable to answer many of the hypothetical questions involved.
