Al Qaeda in Yemen

By: Almas Khan

Saudi Arabia and the United States are afraid that Yemen could become the next Afghanistan. Yemen a poor country with a very weak government has tribal areas where Al Qaida could hide easily and convince the poor tribes people to join them. Recently Saudi police found a stock of ammunition and a stock of food supply for a long time. Unlike Afghanistan's government, Yemen's government is against terrorism is trying ti fight these Al Qaeda members. Although Yemen is trying to fight off this terror group, it isnt strong enough to do this on its own. Saudi Arabia a country bordering Yemen is afraid of the rising Al Qaeda group because this group may move into Saudi. Osama Bin Laden's ancestors are from Yemen, which makes sense why Al Qaeda would be there. The literacy rate in the tribal region of yemen is only 50 percent and unemployment of 35 percent. This is how wrecked the country is. A great concern for United States.
