EU budget chief the new president of Lithuania

The EU budget chief Dalia Grybauskaite has won the presidential election in Lithuania. The for the EU means a new budget chief must be selected.

But what does that mean to Lithuania?

Most likely a closer way to reform and getting rid of corruption. With its first female president the country is faced with deep recession, corruption scandals and allegations. The voter turnout reflected this, this year, with only 51 percent voting.

She is now in charge of appointing the prime minister, and the cabinet, faced with decisions concerning which ministers to keep and which to let go, which might determine her approval ratings.

According to Reuters.
