They did it! Pakistan has finally reopened an important border pass to NATO convoys, 10 days after enacting a blockade that strained relations with the United States and was followed by violent attacks on supply trucks stranded inside Pakistan. The foreign ministry stated that after assessing the security situation they reopened the pass and this ended tensions between Pakistan and the U.S. who stated they were pleased by the development.
Originally the border was closed because of an airstrike by two American assault helicopters that killed or wounded six Pakistani soldiers. But after an investigation was done, it was insurgents who fired the warning shots which later led to apologies from the U.S. led coalition forces in Afghanistan and top NATO and U.S. officials.
