US to Pakistan: My bad

Soldiers in Afghanistan are paying a heavy toll for cross-border NATO attacks, as dozens of oil tankers and supply trucks traveling through Pakistan have been attacked. The Pakistani government ordered the Torkham border crossing closed after NATO helicopters chased suspected Taliban rebels across the Afghan border. The attack resulted in the deaths of two Pakistani soldiers, which prompted the shutdown of theTorkham border crossing. Faced with a logistical nightmare, the US is apologizing for the September 3oth incursion. Islamic militants are taking full advantage of the crossing shut-down, as tankers are forced into a chokepoint or forced to make rest stops, and are easy targets. Furthurmore, the convoys are only escorted by a handful of unarmed guards, and are face with an enemy bearing AK-47s and Molotov cocktails. 80%of NATO supplies come in through the Pakistani port of Karachi, and enter Afghanistan through two crossings. The US apology is likely to expidite the reopening of the Torkham border crossing.
