Ex-soldier convicted of Murder in Iraq

By Beth Lessard

This past weekend, Steven Green, a lanky 24-year old ex-soldier, was convicted of murder and rape in Iraq. The former member of the 101st Airborne Division, who was inserted into a very bad section of the worst fighting of the war, had proof against him for the rape an murder of Iraqi citizens. Evidence shows pictures and videos that are oddly connected. From images of a dead Iraqi strapped to the hood of an Army Humvee to a 3-D map of a crime scene. Green was found guilty of raping a 14-year-old Iraqi girl. He was also found guilty for killing the little girls family. In court, it is suggested that Green appears before a jurry of his military peers. Court is dismissed and Green goes back to his cell. "His early release from the army two months after the crime is a possible death sentence, while three of his accomplices face the possibility of parole from an Army prison in 2016." This is being desputed today and another court date will be scheduled.
