New Steps for Obama and China, and Possibly the Two-Party Devide in the U.S

Madeline Moton

News over this weekend filtered out that President Obama has named Republican John Huntsman (Governor of Utah) as the ambassador to China. He reasoning for doing this may have partically been because Huntsman fluently speaks Mandarin Chinese, but Obama said "Given the breadth of issues at stake in our relationship with China, this ambassadorship is as important as any in the world".
This article and step made by Obama is another reflection of his new method of communicating with other countries; the Abraham Lincoln method, with a mix of soft power. Obama is trying to prevent global conflict with China and by naming Huntsman as the ambassador, which he hopes will give the Chinese government the message that the U.S does not want any conflict. The only problem with this however is Obama's new method of communication has not really shown to be one humder percent effective and fool pfoor.
He is also attempting to somewhat mend the relationship between the Republican and Democrat parties thta has been growing weaker every year. The article noted that Obama said, But here is what I also know: I know Jon is the kind of leader that always puts country ahead of party,"which is a signal that Obama wants the congress and executive branch to vere away from parties and focus on the problems facing our country. Hopefully this method will get the country somewhere rather than put the U.S back a few more steps with national and international relationsips.
