Chinese Nobel prize winner's wife detained
Liu Xia,The wife of recent 2010 Nobel Peace Prize winner Liu Xiaobo, has been placed under house arrest just days after relaying the victorious news to her incarcerated husband. The Chinese government has allegedly destroyed Liu's house and cellular phone and is not allowing her to leave her apartment. The only communication Liu has been able to make to the outside world has been through brief messages posted on her Twitter. The Chinese government has not commented on the issue, and many wonder what the fate of Liu Xia will be. Human rights activists around the world are hoping that governments around the world will condemn China for this unjust action and help to release Liu from her home arrest. The win of the Nobel Peace Prize by Liu Xiaobo has been vastly censored for all Chinese citizens and Liu himself has been sentenced for 11 years on the charge of inciting subversion of state power. Liu Xiaobo's biggest contribution was his organization of the student protesters at Tiananmen Square in 1989.
