Reports of Child Labor at Commonwealth Games

New Delhi is due to host the Commonwealth Games beginning on October 3rd. Fifty four nations from all around the world will be competing in this multi-sport event.

It has been reported that the city is using large amounts of child labor to prepare for the games. Many children, even some as young as seven years old, have been spotted constructing the game venues for the event. Those involved face harsh conditions and little amenities. These children do not understand what is actually doing on, but simply do as they are told.

Child labor is not a rare occurrence in New Delhi. Efforts have been made to contact Indian officials. These attempts harbored minimal responses. After contact through CNN's Connect the World, New Dehli chief minister Sheila Dixit denied knowing that child labor was being used. She asserted that immediate action will be taken to stop the use of children in preparation for the games.
