Germany to set end-2011 start date for Afghan pullout

A proposal is being brought before Germany's parliament on the 28th setting a date for a withdrawal of their forces from Afghanistan to begin late 2011. The German government has been facing increasing pressure from its citizens regarding its military actions in the Middle East, with multiple officials being forced to resign over pro-war comments or policies. Parliament is expected to pass the proposal with limited opposition.
Germany's decreased presence in the middle east will be greatly noticed since they have contributed the 3rd most troops of NATO operations. With more nations leaving the the middle east the USA will be forced into an awkward situation of fighting a protracted battle alone with no end in sight, and the stubborn persistence that we have exhibited regarding our Middle East operations.
