North Korea broadcasts Western-made film

The first ever broadcasting of a Western-made film took place in North Korea on December 26. The film, Bend it Like Beckham, is a soccer related movie originally produced in the United Kingdom. It was edited for content and then broadcast as a commemorative marker of the 10 year anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations. This observation of such an anniversary was also the first ever of its kind in North Korean history. The broadcasting of the film an extremely rare occurrence, as the television in North Korea is state-controlled and features only certain content.
