Bolivian president Evo Morales, who has not eaten since this past Thursday, vowed to continue his hunger strike until Monday when Congress will reconvene. Morales is striking in hopes that the Senate, run by the opposition, will set a date for general elections. Luckily, he appeared healthy while giving this address.
Apparently, this is not as uncommon as we would have to believe in Bolivian politics - another hunger strike took place in 2002 & lasted for 18 days.
From my perspective, this seems a little childish, & I am not really sure if starving himself will get the Senate to agree to Morales' requests. It will be interesting to see how the Congress reacts.
