Although this article is not as recent as yesterday, it still applies to the War on Drugs today. The Mexican Drug cartels have spilled over into more of the United States then ever before. It is so bad that cartels have crossed the border into Canada. Along with the spread of drugs all over states that border each country border, violence has risen as well. Because of the rise in drug cartels, there was a special squad created to tame these cartels. In the 200 violence incidents reported along the border of the U.S. and Canada, 3/4 of them have been proven to be drug related. From pistol whipping, to kidnappings, the violence has polluted both borders. It is getting so bad that southern states such as, Texas, are requesting the National Guard to provide aid in protecting Texan citizens living close to the border of Mexico. With the violence rising at the border between the U.S. and Mexico, there has been increased inspections of vehicles armed with weapons. Unfortunately, Mexico has placed the blame on the U.S. for the increased ability for Mexicans to own guns.
