Sin Aqua Non

Brian Murray

In recent years, there have been debates concerning the freshwater supply of the world. These debates are important because water itself is the fuel of planet earth. According to this article, local water shortages are multiplying around the world. The author of this article points out that there are two main trends in relation to this. The first trend shows that local water shortages have been increasing because the population is increasing. Over the past fifty years the earth experienced a population boom putting us at 6.5 billion. Estimations say that by 2025 population will increase 2 billion, and 3 billion by 2050. The other trend that has been correlated to this water shortage is climate change. This changes the way plants grow which ultimately effects the entire water cycle. Overall, more water is in demand than we can supply. And at current rates of consumption, issues are inevitable.
