Committed to Civilian Rule & Democracy (Egypt)

The military rulers of Egypt have agreed to go through with civilian rule and democracy. Pro-democracy activists have promised to remain in Cairo’s Tahrir Square, waiting for the Higher Military Council to approve of their agenda for democratic reform. Consequently, if the military does not address the issue, more demonstrations will take place. Autocratic rulers hypothesized the chances of keeping their positions after the removal of Mubarak. The new government would forever change Egypt. Pharmacist Elmasalmy said “half-revolutions kill nations.” It is questionable as to how willing the military is to make such a swift transition to parliamentary democracy. It seems Egypt is moving towards stability, but will they be able to maintain it??
