Protesting crowds in Tahrir Square in Cairo, Egypt are celebrating the news that Mubarak may be stepping down very soon after the meeting of the Egyptian Military Council. It seems that the protests, which have been going on since January 25th, may actually achieve their goal. The biggest question that emerges now is which direction Egyptian government will take from here. The crowds are divided; some want a 'civil' change with no military involvement, while others chant "People and the army, we are one!". The interesting thing is that a great deal of citizens place more faith in the military than any government leaders, even the Vice President, who has supposedly been trying to negotiate with public demands. Although the atmosphere is festive( including music, dancing, and vendors), many have sworn not to leave the square until a new regime is established.
