Pirates have recently taken control of an Italian oil tanker carrying crude oil in the Indian Ocean. Shots were fired by five pirates who then boarded the tanker roughly 500 miles off the coast of India and 800 miles off the coast of Somalia. They were able to take over with only a small boat. The crew of the tanker consisted of 17 Indians and 5 Italians. None have been reported to be injured. An Italian naval ship is currently on its way to the scene and expected to arrive in several days.
