Taliban at War with School Girls

The latest on the Taliban’s cowardly battles is an attack on a bus full of students. They stopped the vehicle and threw acid in the girl’s faces and opened fire, shooting one boy. There were three acid victims, who all now have scars on their faces for life. One girl said she’s afraid to go back to her studies, and wouldn’t give her name because her family didn’t give her permission to speak.

Throwing acid in a woman’s face is a common punishment in Pakistan. For example, if the woman is suspected of socializing against the wishes of the parents, they think it is honorable to disfigure their daughter with acid to the face. A 15 year old girl died from acid burns to her face and chest because her parents didn’t let her get medical treatment after they burned her. She was finally taken to the hospital after a day of suffering, where she died of her injuries.
