Turkish Hunger Strike

Prisoners in Turkey are participating in a massive hunger strike. The hunger strike is taking place in 67 prisons and 682 inmates are participating in the strike. The Turkish government has stated that none of the protesters are in critical condition. A medical doctor named Aytug Atici said that he met with some of the prisoners and stated that they were showing signs of starvation and that they are in critical condition. Dr. Atici is also a lawmaker from the secularist Republican People's Party. The hunger strike has been going on for more than 50 days.
