The release of the last known P.O.W. in Afghanistan, Bowe Bergdahl, has been successfully negotiated and he is to return to the United States in the near future. Bergdahl had been detained for over five years in Afghanistan and it's believed he was exchanged for 5 Tailban members who were detained in Guantanamo Bay in Cuba. He is currently in Germany recovering and receiving medical treatment, and apparently there is some question as to why he was detained; whether he had left his post without permission or deserted. Nevertheless, Bowe was the last soldier still detained as a result of the Iraq and Afghanistan and he has been released.
