Brazil is preparing for the World Cup that many people around the world will be watching on Thursday, June 12th. However, one of the host cities, Sao Paulo, is looking at having more than just soccer matches to worry about. Metro workers took the streets as part of a union strike this past Thursday leaving the city to deal with severe traffic issues. The workers demand a 12.2% pay raise and will not stop the strike until their demands have been met. The courts have offered them an 8.7% increase in pay but after the workers rejected their proposal, the courts have announced that any person who does not return to work by Monday will be would be dismissed. With the World Cup being less than a week ahead, the city has a lot of pressure to resolve this problem. Who do you think will win this battle?
