On Monday President Obama will embark on a weeklong trip to
France, Poland, and Belgium in hopes of showing the world the United States
still defends democratic governments. Senior U.S. officials, say that Obama
will make it absolutely clear that the United States remains firmly committed
to the defense of democracy and self-rule in Europe. Obama was supposed to
attend the G8 summit in Russia, but after the Ukraine crisis broke out, he will
now attend the G7 summit in Brussels. The goal of the trip is to set democratic
security back in Eastern Europe after the Ukraine crisis.
